"We didn’t touch the lens," Henry said. "You didn’t touch it, did you, Susan?"

"No, we never touched the lens," Susan said in a frightened tone. He thought Susan’s protest seemed too strong
Is Saul hesitant to show them where the lens is damaged? He didn’t want them to lie and deny it again if they did it, but if they didn’t, they would attract their attention. He didn’t want to cause an argument, so he gave up and dragged Gloria away from the telescope. He knew she had been listening.
In the kitchen of the building, he called the fire department in Blix town. They said that they knew about the island fire, which would not pose a threat. The whole process made him feel a little confused because they had always treated the forgotten coastal people like this or they were very chatting.
Gloria sat in a chair at the table and absently chewed a candy he gave her. He guessed that she might still want a lollipop.
"Go home after eating." He made it clear in French, but he hoped that she would stay away from the lighthouse immediately. Charlie might say that he was irrational and emotional, and that he was not thinking clearly. However, considering the island fire, lens damage and Susan’s strange mood, he didn’t want Gloria to stay here.
But Gloria refused, as if she got sugar, but she was also stubborn.
"Saul, you are my friend," she said, "but not my boss." It’s as if he should have said nothing.
He suspected-more than once-that this was the irony of Gloria’s mother’s speech, but he had to admit that it was true. He was not boss Henry, and obviously he was not boss. He thought of that old saying, which was true but disgusting, to mind his own business.
So he nodded and admitted defeat. She can do whatever others want, but he has patience. Weekend is coming soon. He and Charlie are going to take a bus to Briks Town to explore the fresh food in a place called Yuexing Bowling Hall. Charlie has a friend who likes it very much. Sol doesn’t mind bowling, but what he likes most is that they have a liquor license. There is a bar behind the arena.
Only an hour later, Henry and Susan went back upstairs-first he noticed their creaking footsteps and then he saw them walking around the lighthouse through the kitchen window.
He wanted to stay indoors and go with them, but a moment later, Brad Delno’s truck stopped in the driveway. He often came to help maintain the lighthouse. Before the volunteer car stopped, Brad waved to Henry. For some reason, Saul didn’t want Brad to talk to the "light cavalry" alone. Brad is a band musician who likes drinking and chatting very much. If anyone is willing to listen to him, he is willing to talk. Sometimes he will get into trouble and be forgotten. The coast occasionally participates in lighthouse work, even in the community.
"Have you heard about the fire?" Brad said in the parking lot that Saul was walking towards him.
"Yes," Saul said simply, "I heard." Of course Brad knows. Why else would he come out?
At the moment, he can see Henry and Susan constantly taking pictures of every inch of the fence. In the chaos, Gloria noticed him skipping to him and screaming, because she knew that he usually hated this kind of screaming.
"Do you know what this is about?" Brad asked.
"I don’t know more than you do, but the fire department said it was okay." When talking to Brad, his tone seemed to change with a southern nasal sound, which annoyed him.
"Then can I go to the telescope and have a look?" Brad is as eager as Gloria to witness the only exciting event today.
But before Saul could answer, Henry and Susan came towards them.
"It’s time to take pictures," Susan said with a big smile. Her camera is equipped with a huge telephoto lens and a wide belt to make her look more like a child.
"What do you want to take pictures?" Gloria asked.
That’s what Saul want to ask.
"It’s our file," Susan said, grinning more brightly. "We’re going to make a photo map of the area and record the people living here, and look at what a beautiful weather it is." But at the moment, there are a little gloomy gray clouds gathering here, which may not rain but will land.
"How about taking a picture of you and your assistant-and maybe the girl?" Henry said he ignored Gloria, and his eyes were fixed on Saul, which made him feel uncomfortable.
"I’m not sure," Saul said. Even if there was no other reason, their insistence made him unwilling to accept it. He should try to distance himself from Brad, who is not as formal as an "assistant."
"I’m sure," muttered Gloria, staring at them. Susan tried to slap her on the head as if to bite her hand, and then she growled and hid away, which was completely in line with her personality.
Henry approached Saul. "What’s a lighthouse keeper in a lighthouse photo?" He asked, but this is not a question.
"Is it a better photo?"
"I know you were a priest in the north," Henry said, "but if you are worried about the former people, it’s not necessary-the photos will not be released."
This caught him off guard.
"How do you know?" Sol said
However, this new discovery excited Brad. Before Henry could answer, he interrupted and said, "Yes, that’s the Saul dude. He’s a real outlaw. Ten States want to arrest him. If you take a picture of him, he’s finished."
